Introduction

Herd health programs are usually tailored to fit individual herds. They depend on the herd size and the production goals of the owner. Past management practices contribute significantly to disease problems. Goat husbandry is very labor-intensive, and most people who maintain herds earn their living away from the farm. The majority of the diseases associated with goats could be prevented with good management, with emphasis on a good vaccination program and biosecurity. Control of common infections and metabolic diseases of goats is addressed in this article.
