When gametes are collected and stored from exotic locations, the question of ownership (and, therefore, involvement in the subsequent utilization of the resource) becomes an issue. Are the stored gametes the property of the agency of the country in which they are harvested, the technical team whose expertise made this possible, or the funding body that provided financial support? These issues should be considered and resolved before
the collection is established to avoid legal disputes in the future.
