Treatment of Recurrent Cancer

■ Patients may only be treated for cure if disease is confined to pelvis.

■ Patients with central recurrence after radical hysterectomy are treated with radiation.

■ Patients previously treated with radiotherapy are only treated by radical pelvic surgery.

■ Chemotherapy:

■ Response rates higher with combination therapy

■ Most combinations include platinum.

■ Response rates = 50 to 70% for 4 to 6 months of life.

Women who took DES themselves during pregnancy have a 1.35% increased relative risk of breast cancer.
