These studies report high clearance rates with liquid-nitrogen cryotherapy, although poor healing and discomfort related to the procedure may limit its utility in BD of such sites as the lower legs. In relation to the study comparing cryotherapy and curettage, methodological limitations include deviation from an ITT analysis and use of non-random allocation. The former omission would tend to overestimate the efficacy of the intervention, whereas the latter would tend to weaken the validity of the results, as there is no assurance that known and unknown confounders are homogeneously distributed between the comparison groups.
