The mean treatment duration of phototherapies and photochemotherapies varied from 6 months to 2 years. Since phototherapy is time-consuming and patients must remain motivated for long periods, monitoring of compliance is relevant but seldom reported in trials. Moreover, we found no trials considering quality of life as an outcome, except for a case series of 51 children treated with narrowband UVB.21 These issues need to be better assessed in further studies. Also, follow up studies are needed to assess the persistence of therapy-induced repigmentation.
