Laser resurfacing was performed only for Fitzpatrick skin types I and II. Use of laser treatment on patients with darker skin tones may be associated with a higher risk of hypo- or hyperpigmentation. Further studies should be performed before Er:YAG laser treatment can become a routine treatment for AK.
