When applying monobenzone, patients should be warned about possible depigmentation at distant sites and of the skin of others (partners), and should be informed that bleaching is a permanent and irreversible process. Contact dermatitis and corneal and conjunctival melanosis have also been reported.24

Repigmentation occurred after total depigmentation was achieved, in 36% (CI 11-69) of patients treated with methoxyphenol cream and 44% (CI 14-79) of patients treated with Q-switched ruby laser.32
