There is limited evidence of a preferential effect of three-times-weekly application of mometasone in an RCT of a 30-week maintenance phase (i.e. after induction of remission).1 The primary outcome variable was the number of recurrences of hand eczema.
Three studies compared once- versus twice-daily application. One RCT found no difference between the two application schedules for the same corticosteroid used for 3 weeks.2 The other two studies were left-right comparisons of two different corticosteroids.3,4
Two different concentrations
One left-right RCT of 2 weeks' duration comparing different concentrations of the same corticosteroid applied twice daily detected no difference.5
