We found no recent published data on incidence or prevalence from any developed country. Scabies is a common public health problem in developing countries, where prevalence may exceed 50% in some communities, and prevalence has been estimated at 300 million cases worldwide.1 Older studies have shown that prevalence is highest in teenagers and schoolchildren.2-4 However, incidence has increased recently in the institutionalised elderly.
