The usefulness of an article is a product of its clinical relevance times its validity divided by its accessibility.23 Information sources need to be near the clinical area if they are to be used for patients. Getting distracted by irrelevant but interesting citations is also a real hazard when reading search results. Two filters need to be applied if one is to keep practising EBD: the first is to discard irrelevant information and the second is to spend more time looking at a few high-quality papers.
