Given that groups such as the Cochrane Skin Group are less than 5 years old, it is not surprising that many of the questions that interest dermatologists have not yet been the subject of a systematic review. Such lack of comprehensiveness is a phenomenon of time rather than intent, and one hopes that an evidence base as comprehensive as that for perinatal medicine will be achieved within 5 years if the current trends continue. This book is itself an attempt at filling in some of the evidence gaps from existing systematic reviews. Even so, there is still a large number of rarer skin diseases that are not covered in this book. This issue will be partly addressed by including them on the website accompanying this book and future editions of the hard-copy version.
