The success of early intervention programmes depends on the degree to which help-seeking can be mobilized among at-risk persons in the population, for example by carrying out awareness programmes that provide basic information on schizophrenia and its treatment [74,140]. Antistigma and information campaigns play an important role, as successfully demonstrated by the WPA Global Programme Against Stigma and Discrimination Because of Schizophrenia . Another precondition is a well-functioning network of low-threshold pathways to care , that is, easily accessible and as far as possible stigma-free early intervention centres or other suitable mental health services [16,143].
