Breast biopsy

Needle biopsy

Breast biopsy can be performed under local anaesthesia by using a 'TruCut' needle or a 'drill'-type needle which removes a core of tissue. Both of these techniques can be uncomfortable and lead to bruising. However, they allow an assessment of tumour type and grade of tumour to be determined.
