17. There should be rapid access to an emergency team, either hospital crash team or ambulance, and a telephone available for raising emergency help.

18. There should be locally agreed protocols for managing emergency situations.

19. A written emergency protocol and plan should be clearly displayed in the venue and drawn to people's attention.

20. Appropriate resuscitation equipment, including a defibrillator, should be available and maintained in accordance with local protocols (see equipment section pp. 175-6).

21. There should be locally agreed protocols to manage symptomatic patients (e.g. angina and hypoglycaemia) and accident or emergency situations.
