The fascial reactions in acute pancreatitis have been meticulously studied by CT.17 Thickening of the anterior renal fascia is commonly seen (Fig. 8-59), and the inflammatory process often extends to involve typically the anterior pararenal space7,8,12,82-87 (Fig. 8-60). This usually spreads to the left from the tail of the pancreas. Reactive thickening of Gerota's fascia and perhaps the lateroconal fascia may remain after resolution of the pancreatitis (Fig. 8-61).
