Acute Overdose Toxicity

Mirtazapine appears to be associated with limited toxicity in overdose. Presently, only 11 cases of mirtazapine overdose have been reported in the medical literature. The most common presentation includes sedation, confusion, sinus tachycardia, and mild hypertension. 7 Doses up to 1350 mg have been tolerated without significant sequelae. The risk of coma and respiratory depression is greatest at larger doses or when combined with other CNS-depressant drugs. Vital sign abnormalities are rarely of clinical significance and have not required specific treatment.
