Communication from Disaster Site to Hospital

The local emergency communications or disaster operations center should alert hospitals in the affected area of a possible mass- or multiple-casualty situation. Ideally, this report should include the number of injured divided into categories: serious injuries, minor injuries, and special patients (e.g., pregnant women). Hospitals should report to the local emergency communications center the following information: (1) bed availability, (2) number of casualties received thus far, (3) number of additional casualties that the hospital is prepared to accept, and (4) specific items in short supply.
