Discharge

Discharge criteria for CS are outlined in I§b!e.3,3-6. These guidelines may require modification based on patient age, clinical circumstances, the agents used, and the patient's social situation. Patients must not be permitted to drive or operate heavy machinery for at least 24 h after CS. The agents used for CS often produce anterograde amnesia, which may be present even when consciousness appears otherwise normal. It is therefore vital to evaluate the patient's ability to retain information prior to discharge.
