Lower leg injuries are common. The tibia is the most common long bone fractured. Significant soft tissue injuries to the leg can also occur. Documentation of the history and the physical examination are crucial to the proper evaluation of lower leg injuries. A knowledge of the anatomy aids in the interpretation of findings.
