The presence of a mass could be the first sign of a congenital anomaly or a tumor (e.g., Wilms's tumor or neuroblastoma). It could be a pyloric "olive" or the intussusception mass if associated with vomiting or a guaiac-positive stool. If a child has an acute surgical or obstructive abdomen, resuscitation and prompt surgical consultation are necessary.
