Personnel Notification

The director of the emergency department or a designee should have a phone list of appropriate personnel to be called in to work during a disaster. Lists of addresses and phone numbers of these individuals should be distributed to all key personnel. This information should be regularly updated.

If hospital telephone communications have been completely disrupted, emergency department personnel may have to be reached by cellular phone, E mail, or radio or television announcement. Alternatively, a telephone remote from the hospital, even at a personal residence, may be able to handle this extensive calling job.
