Adverse pregnancy outcomes or fetal abnormalities have not been associated with rabies vaccination. 3 ,31 Because of the potential consequences of inadequately treated rabies exposure, and because adverse events have not been associated with rabies postexposure prophylaxis during pregnancy, pregnancy is not considered a contraindication to rabies postexposure prophylaxis or HRIG.19 If there is substantial risk of exposure to rabies, preexposure prophylaxis may also be indicated during pregnancy.
