The symptoms are somewhat dose-dependent (T§b.!e,..182-1). At the onset of poisoning, there is an inspiratory gasp followed by hyperventilation. Patients complain of breathlessness and feel anxious. Symptoms related to anxiety about the exposure also may mimic these initial symptoms of toxicity. During inhalational exposure, these symptoms will resolve following removal from the toxic exposure. In significant exposures, cerebral function is affected rapidly. Loss of consciousness occurs, often associated with seizures.14
