Infection Tests On Semen

Certain viruses and bacteria can lead to infertility. Therefore, doctors will check for their presence in both partners. Some of the infection testing is done by evaluating a blood sample (see preceding). Other testing involves evaluating a semen sample.

The semen will be checked for the presence of white blood cells. If a large number of white blood cells are present, this may indicate an infection.
