Nephrops Norvegicus

The Norway lobster (also known as scampi or Dublin Bay prawn) has an average carapace length of 30 mm for males and 20 mm for females at maturity; individuals grow as large as 70 mm (8). They live in burrows in muddy bottoms at depths of 15 to 820 m (9). Their range is from Iceland to the coast of Norway and from the Adriatic Sea south to the coast of Morocco. They are also found in the western Mediterranean (4). There are related species on the Brazilian coast and in the Indo-Pacific areas (10). In total, these species account for 34% of the world catch.
