Us Fat Consumption

The U.S. Department of Agriculture provides data on the availability of food fat for consumption per capita in the United States. These data measure the amount of fat available and do not consider the quantities wasted or discarded. Fats are separated into visible and invisible categories. The visible portion consists of easily identified fat like butter, margarine, shortening, and salad oils. The invisible category is ingested as part of other foods and is not easily recognized as fat such as dairy products.
