Future Directions

The approach to hallucinations presented in this article represents an attempt to organize and synthesize current knowledge from a functional neuroana-tomic perspective. It should be regarded as a framework on which further data from disciplines relevant to neuroscience can be laid. As new data emerge and interdisciplinary integration proceeds, our understanding of hallucinations will undoubtedly gain increased specificity and complexity and grow in new directions.
