Conclusion

Different T cell subsets have different roles in the various features of cell-mediated immunity, although these roles have not been fully characterized. In several experimental infections, the patterns of disease indicate preferential involvement of one or another T cell subset. Factors which influence the development of the several T lymphocyte subsets arc beginning to be understood, and the mechanisms that selectively regulate their responses have been partially defined.
