However, prostaglandins can reduce inflammatory reactions through inhibition of adhesion molecule expression on the vascular endothelium, and inhibition of inflammatory mediator release from macrophages, mast cells and platelets. Prostaglandins can also reduce tissue injury through inhibition of oxygen-derived free radical production by leukocytes and monocytes.
