of conserved subunits in chromosomes was demonstrated using autoradiography. Many important observations have been made on macromolecular metabolism, synthesis and secretion using these techniques. The method has also been successfully applied to the study of virus particles and nucleic acids. In our laboratories we have used autoradiography and electron microscopy to demonstrate the binding of a costimulatory protein to its receptor on the surface of CD4+ T lymphocytes (Figures 1 and 2).
