T cell receptor TCR

Although there are no reported studies at the level of protein structure, molecular cloning of rabbit TCR a genes has been carried out using libraries prepared from thymus and from a transformed T cell line. Eleven rabbit V(i genes have been cloned and have been assigned to nine Vp families (family members have 3:75% nucleotide sequence identity).

Approximately 25% of circulating peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) in the adult rabbit express TCRs of the 78 type. This is relatively high compared with TCR 78 expression in humans and mice and is similar to levels seen in ruminants.

Genes for rabbit C.,, Cs, V., and V& have been cloned and sequenced. The deduced amino acid sequence of the rabbit TCR C, gene shows 60% identity to the human CY1 gene. It was also shown that all rabbit TCR7 transcripts utilize this constant region gene and no rabbit homolog of the human C72 gene has been detected. The deduced amino acid sequence of the rabbit TCRS gene also showed 60% similarity to the human TCR8 gene.
