FIGURE 13.1 A summary of the information-processing model of timing adapted from Gibbon, J. et al., in Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences: Timing and Time Perception, Vol. 423, Gibbon, J. and Allan, L., Eds., New York Academy of Sciences, New York, 1984, 52-77.

scalar timing theory is illustrated in Figure 13.1. More recently, it has been proposed that the timing of durations in the seconds-to-minutes range involves frontal-striatal circuits (Malapani and Rakitin, this volume; Matell et al., this volume; MacDonald and Meck, this volume; Meck, 1996; Meck and Benson, 2002). In this chapter we will discuss the different stages of temporal processing that may involve separate brain regions in the frontal cortex, hippocampus, and cerebellum.
