Photomultiplier Tubes PMTs

A typical PMT consists of a photocathode followed by focusing electrodes, electron multipliers, and an electron collector. When light enters the PMT, photons hitting the photocathode emit electrons into the tube and are directed toward the multiplier electrodes by the focusing electrodes' voltage. The electrons are multiplied at each electrode and finally detected as an electric signal from the anode.
